The orchestra

An ensemble born of virtuosity and kinship

Founded in 1995 by violinist Frédéric Moreau, the string orchestra "Les Violons de France" quickly established itself as one of the most prestigious French orchestras. Its success from the very first concerts springs as much from the exceptional quality of its interpretations as from a genuine kinship among its musicians, brought together for their artistic and human qualities and their passion for sharing the love of music with the widest of audiences.

The orchestra's musicians regularly perform as soloists with the ensemble and have won the highest distinctions in their fields. The ensemble plays the masterpieces of the repertoire and adapts many scores to the virtuosity of its soloists. For symphonic works, woodwinds, brass and percussion join the strings to form the Orchestre Philharmonique d'Île-de-France.

Abroad, the orchestra has been a guest of the prestigious Celebrity Concert Series and the Gardner Concert Hall in Salt Lake City (USA), the Seoul Arts Center (South Korea) and the Balletto di Milano (Italy), as well as many festivals, including the Radio France Festival in Montpellier.

Sharing and passing on

Educational programmes. Since 1993, Frédéric Moreau has led several hundred themed shows for children and parents alike. Sound, rhythm, melody, the musical phrase, Mozart, descriptive music… so many playful, accessible gateways, requiring no prior knowledge, to learn to listen and to demystify "great music".

Charitable commitment. Aware of its social role, the orchestra regularly supports humanitarian causes and organisations: APEI, ADAPEI, Rotary Club, Lions Club, "Art Works for Kids" and many more. Great music in the service of sharing.
